Our Girls

Maddy is adjusting fairly well to being a big sister.  She likes Emma and tries to be helpful with her which at times can be slightly scary. She shows interest in holding Emma, but being her typical independent self is no longer interested when we tell her that mommy or daddy has to help her.  So this is one of the only pictures we have of the two of them together.  They are sitting on Paw Paw's lap, and he happens to be one of Maddy Mae's favorites.  In fact, we can no longer tell her he is coming to visit or that we are going there to visit until we are about five minutes away from the visit.  If we mention it earlier, we get to here "Paw Paw" "Where my Paw Paw" until he arrives.  It is really pretty sweet, and you can tell by the smile on his face here that the feeling is mutual.

Maddy has also developed an Elmo obsession over the past month.  Here she is relaxing on our bed watching one of her Elmo's World videos.  When Elmo isn't on, she grabs the remote and points it at the TV while pressing buttons, saying "Elmo, Elmo."  Fortunately we have prevented parental locks from being added to any of our channels so far.

Madelynn likes to push Emma in the swing, or "wing" or "wee" as Maddy calls it.

For the most part, the big sister does very well with this, but there has been a time or two that she has tried to adjust and move Emma in the swing which makes Kevin and I very nervous.  Emma is sporting a diaper only in this picture because it was after we had just brought her home and we were trying to make sure her billirubin levels went down.  So Emma got to sun herself for a few days.

Emma is doing very well.  She is getting bigger, sleeping, eating, pooping, and looking adorable all with great success.  She has this baby thing down pat.  We are very lucky to have two beautiful girls, and already watching them together is so fun.  The other day, Emma was fussing and then stopped when I came to check on her Maddy was sitting by gently touching her leg and talking to "her baby".  It was simply precious, and I can't wait for many more moments like that one.
