Happy 1/2 Birthday Emma Lynn

Emma turned 6 months old this past Friday, and this past month has been a busy one for her.  She is eating cereal, veggies, and fruits now.  Em is quite the messy one when she eats so we opt for diaper only attire while she dines.  We have to really be on our game now when its meal time.  If we take to long between bites she tends to give us a growl so that we know to speed up a bit.

 Emma is also eating Num Nums.  They are a rice based treat that is pretty much the same consistency of a  Communion wafer.  Not the tastiest of treats, but they will do until we decide to try out Puffs with her.

 We have been practicing sitting up for the past month or so.  Until the last week, Emma sat up with the assistance of her boppy or with a grown up sitting right by her.  She is getting better though, and this past week has begun to sit for longer and longer amount of times without assistance.  I'm still not brave enough to let her setting alone on our hardwood without being to close, but she is doing very well with this new skill.

 Emma is also getting her first tooth!  It is the bottom front tooth, and knock on wood, she seems to be taking the teething thing with stride.  We are very grateful for this, because cutting teeth always seemed to thoroughly screw up Maddy's routine and disposition.  Thus, far though Emma has been her normal happy and sleeping through the night self.  HURRAY we say!   Here is Emma's picture before going for her six month check up and shots.

Emma did wonderfully with her check up.  She received three vaccinations and fussed for about thirty seconds afterwards.  Both girls are pretty good with getting their shots which is great!  Emma weighed in at a petite 14 lbs. 15 ounces and measured 25 1/4 inches long.  The past sixth months have flown by, and I am really looking forward to the next six.  So many fun things happen in these next six months that I think it might be my favorite part of the baby stage of life.  I love the snuggling of the newborn and everything about these first six months.  But the next six months are going to be filled with so many big milestones for Emma.  She'll start crawling, start talking more (I maintain she said Mama last week, but Kevin refuses to believe that it was more that just babbling.), begin walking, and begin eating "real" foods.  Such fun things to look forward too, and yet they are all very bittersweet.  They mean my baby is getting big.
