Changes

These changes are why before today, I hadn't updated my blog since August.  We put our home in Germantown up for sale this past May.  Although we loved the home and everything we had done to it to update it and make it ours, we needed to move closer to where Kevin worked, closer to where we would eventually build, and closer to where the kids activities are.  Kevin was spending nearly two hours commuting back and forth to work each day and I was making multiple trips a week to Highland for activities for the girls and a few other trips up to see family.  We were spending way to much money on gas every month, and Kevin really wanted to reduce the amount of time he has traveling and increase the amount of time he had with us each day.
The past few months have been a whirl wind.  We recieved an offer on our home in Germantown  in mid September and with a total negotiation time of four hours had a contract on our home.  Kevin and I had decided that we weren't ready to build just yet, and with another baby on the way this Spring, we wanted to wait at least a couple years.  We had to find a suitable place to live with our kids and dogs in the meantime.  It turns out this was no easy task.  We obviously were going to be somewhat picky about where we were going with the the girls, and not everywhere will rent to pets.   Fortunately a three bedroom home was for sale in Alhambra at a very reasonable price and it will work perfectly for us until we move.  It puts us in the same school district as our ground and Kevin know spends a total of 45 minutes commuting both ways.

This is the final picture we took of our old house the day we went back to "say goodbye" to it.  It was an emotional move.  We were leaving the first place that Kevin and I lived together, where we takled our first project of remodeling as newlyweds, and the biggie this is where we brought our babies home to.  It was their first house.  We had so many memories there that it was a bittersweet goodbye.  Kevin and I both knew we were doing what was in the best interest of our family, but it was still a difficult time.

I feel we have learned a valuable lesson about a house vs a home.  Home is wherever Kevin, myself, and our children are.  The house is just a building with walls, and doors, that is the container for all the memories we make as a family.  It truly wouldn't have mattered wher we ended up after selling, because we would have all been there together and that is what makes it home.
I'll post pictures of our new house soon.
