Fifteen Months Old

Maddy is now fifteen months and about two weeks old. Last weekend we went to Kansas City for our last trip as a family of three (the pictures are from our trip). It is hard to believe that in just about two months, she will be the "Big Sister". But, she is getting bigger and learning more each and every day. It is amazing to see, and I am still glad that I am able to stay home with her and don't have to miss any of her new discoveries. At her fifteen month check up, she measured 30 3/4 inches and weighed 20 lbs 6 oz. This places her in the 45 percentile for height and 15th percentile for weight. She is a petite little girl. Probably more due to her activity level than due to her eating habits.

Our fifteen month check up also served as a follow up to her first ER visit. Over Memorial Day weekend, she developed a fever that Tyelenol and Motrin weren't helping. The ER doctor, diagnosed her with an double ear infection. Luckily, the antibiotics prescribed to her seem to do the trick. Her fever broke, and her ears looked great at her check up. At these checkups, they ask questions about her developement. One made me laugh. "Does she know six words?" This amused me because right now it seems like she is picking up a new word every day.

So, yes Mommy and Daddy are trying to be very careful of our choice of words. Some of the words she says: Mama, Daddy, PawPaw, MawMaw, Aun Nini (Aunt Lindsey), Ucy (Lucy), Chew Chew, Puppies, Belly, Baby, Emma, Elmo, Abby, Head, Ears, Eyes, Nose, Toes, Juice, More, Please, Cheese, Berries, Nack (Snack), Cackers(Crackers), Tactor (tractor), Bath, and the list could contintue on for another couple lines, but I can't remember them all off the top of my head.

She insists on giving the dogs treats when they come in from outside, and will scold them when they are "fighting". Lucy gets lots and lots of hugs and kisses, and Rascal would get more if he would stay where she could reach him, but he is grumpy and prefers to be out of reach.

Maddy loves being outside. We go for two walks almost everyday, and spend at least another hour in the backyard. Her favorite activities outside include swinging, playing with her water table, trying to help Lucy out of the fence, sliding, climbing up the slide, smelling Mommy's flowers, and playing in the mulch. She is so much fun, and is going to make a great big sister.
