We had Emma baptized last Sunday at St. John's UCC in Breese. It is a very tiny church, but the people who attend then are very welcoming and kind. The women's group crocheted (sorry I don't have a clue how to spell that word) a beautiful white blanket for Emma which was a very sweet surprise to us. Emma wore the same baptismal gown that Madelynn did. It was made from the wrap of my wedding gown. Carol Hess, who played a role in introducing Kevin and I sewed it for us. She also wore the necklace that both Madelynn and I wore, and a ring that my mother, sister, myself and Maddy all wore for our baptisms. We gave her the bracelet she is wearing in this photo. I don't think she enjoys "bling" just yet. She gave me some fusses and grunts while we got ready that morning.
But she was the BEST baby during church and her party afterwards. She slept for almost the entire day, including during the actual baptism. She woke up briefly of course when the minister poured the water on her head, but went right back to sleep as soon as she got back into daddy's arms. Her big sister was pretty good too. Kevin joked that we just need to bring an entourage with us on Sundays and then she will for sure make it through the service.
Maddy did yell "Mama and Daddy" when we went to the front of the church. So she joined us to witness her sister being baptised. Here is our family after church.
Emma's Godfather is Dave, my brother-in-law. I'm sure that he will be thrilled beyond words that his picture made the blog. Amy, Kevin's sister, is her Godmother and made the trip up from Nashville, TN to be with us.
After church, everyone came back to our house for a bite to eat and present opening. It was a wonderful day, and we appreciated everyone being there to celebrate Emma's day with us.
